| Another Antarctic treat - the Aurora Austrialis
- - - the Southern Lights. This was an extra good year for seeing them.
I really wanted to see them, but always kept missing them. I'd stay up
extra late.... Or James and I would set the alarm clock for when we heard
they would be good... we were always looking for them, but would always
miss them. For example, we'd go out at 11:00, but they were out from
9:30-10:00 that night... and the next night we'd try 10:00-10:30, just
to find out the next day that they came out at 11:00. Grrr, it was frustrating
looking for them, and never finding them. James finally got to see them,
and tried calling me, but I wasn't home. I was at the scrabble tournament
(I got 7th place out of 16 people, by the way), and no one came in and
told us at the tourney that the Auroras were out. When I came outside
after the tourney that night, I looked around for them, and didn't see
them (I had left the tourney at 11:00, and the Auroras had been active
between 10:00 & 10:30). At least James got to see some. I guess I'll
just have to come back for another Winfly, or do a Winter sometime, since
I missed the boat this year. Email me while I'm on the Ice at Zondra.Skertich@usap.gov .......................................................... Return to Zondra.org |
