For the first time in a few years, things
went very well in the breaking out of the channel. As you can see here,
the Ice cleared out of the channel. I took this photo from the Polar
Sea, looking down the channel towards McMurdo (you can see Ob Hill in
this photo). With the extra time, the Coast Guard was able to take 450
people from McMurdo on a cruise. I got my name drawn out of the hat,
and I got to go. It wasn't nearly as cool as when I went on my Birthday
Cruise on the same boat, 3 years previous, but it was still very very
awesome.
